Deciding to do a Permaculture Course with Us
Deciding to do a Permaculture Design Course (PDC), is a big commitment. At Brogo Permaculture Gardens we take your commitment very seriously by offering a high quality and memorable course. We have run permaculture courses for over 12 years in the Bega Valley, other parts of Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia and in England, but more importantly we have tested and lived permaculture, its ethics, principles and permaculture design for over 20 years.
Along with other like minded and committed permaculture teachers we provide one of the best permaculture courses in Australia and our commitment to you is that you will leave this course with skills to develop the resilient lifestyle you want.
We know that a good permaculture course should be a life changing experience. Feedback from participants over the years regarding our Permaculture Design Course has been positive not only in terms of the teachers, the course and its delivery, but about the impact the permaculture course has had on their life.
Permaculture Design Course Curriculum
Based on Bill Mollison’s book ‘Permaculture: A Designers Manual’ the permaculture course curriculum addresses the broad concept of permaculture through emphasis of the 12 permaculture principles (David Holmgren). Proven examples from around Australia and the world are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of permaculture.
Topics include :
- Origins, Development, Ethics & Principles of Permaculture
- Basics of Ecology & proven knowledge on climate, water, soils & trees.
- Pattern Understanding
- Design Methods & tools for creative design and process.
- Food Production systems from an urban to rural scale & animal integration.
- Aquaculture & Appropriate Technology.
- Designing for different climatic zones & disaster mitigation strategies.
- Energy Efficient Housing & Eco-Village design.
- Bioregional & Local strategies for community resilience.
The permaculture course at The Crossing features a team teaching approach. John Champagne leads & weaves through the course and introduces his colleagues who are selected for their first hand experience in the subject they teach.
Many of our teachers have completed a Creative Facilitation Workshop with Robyn Clayfield. Creative teaching techniques are used throughout the course ensuring we meet the needs of different learning styles, the vast amount of information is best retained and that each section of the course is new and exciting.
Reading the feedback from our Permaculture Design Courses (PDC), the two full days of site visits offered on this permaculture course is a real feature. We visit 8 properties from urban backyards, small acreage farms and the BEND Eco-Village in Bega. It’s not just the physical aspect of the sites that will impress you, but also the people who own them.
The course is held at The Crossing Education Land Trust in Bermagui on the beautiful south coast of NSW which is easily accessed from Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Canberra and surrounds.
